Native American Dining Etiquette?
Historically, what are some specific details on Native American dining etiquette vs. European/American dining etiquette. I’m teaching a history lesson on Native Americans and we will be cooking a traditional Native American dish. I would like for our class to eat the dish while using the same dining customs that they would prob. have used. Thanks for any suggestions!
Honestly BBG, lighten up. This is for pre-schoolers. Pinpointing a particular tribe out of dozens and dozens would be over-kill to say the least. Your answer is snooty and presumptuous…
BBG, I apologise for my reaction. I was way off base in what I said to you. I agree, I was not being very specific. I can also understand why it would be impossible to answer my question without my pin-pointing “at least” what region we could focus on. As you said, there are dozens of tribes with many varying customs. Thanks for the time you took in clarifying this. BTW, We are in AL.
Among my people, the one rule I follow today is, the men, (even boys) eat first. The men are the providers, they hunted so that all may eat. They need to stay strong so that they may continue to provide. So in my family, the men are always served first.
